Sometimes its the little things

January 28, 2019

Hey, Creatives! I am back from Creativation and was finally able to create some art! This watercolor peace came from that lack of sleep that happens when you are running on adrenaline 24/seven. This happens at shows like Creativation! Every time I go to these shows I come home and crash and I did! I  am back on track now and was finally able to do a little creating. I am full of ideas (which also happens when I take a break from creating) so many that I had to just take notes to create later!  This is the first of many that I was thinking of. I was thinking about sleepless nights and how sometimes it’s the little things in life that keep you up at night! I felt it also gave a nod to the old story the princess and the pea, I’ve always wondered how in the world she could know there was a pea under all those mattresses but maybe she had a lot on her mind? Well, today we have lots going on so let’s get to it!

Well because I was so exhausted last week I forgot to cancel Mixed Media Monday as I was on a plane home at the time. But I am super excited for tonight’s episode with lots of goodies to share from Creativation I know you won’t want to miss this!

Adventure Awaits with mermaid ATCoins!

I just adore this little coin Susan made for us!

Hello everyone!  Today I am sharing Rita’s Princess Mermaid stamp on a wooden Artist Trading Coin.  If you have not heard of an ATCoin before it’s an off-take of an Artist Trading Card.

Sometimes it’s the little things

An ATCoin measures about 2.5 inches round although the coin I used today is 3 inches round.  I went with a little larger coin today so that I could be sure that the mermaid stamp would fit on it without going over the edges.

Under the stamp is a piece of painted paper I made using a Gelli plate and it looked a bit like waves to me.  Orange and pink waves, but still waves. ☺  I thought that would be the perfect background for a mermaid.  And I used my favorite decoupage product, Mod Podge! In fact, I used two different types of Mod Podge, the original and the one with glitter in it. What is a project without some sparkle!!!

And speaking of sparkle, to give the coin that extra special touch I placed some gem stones around the outside boarder of the ATCoin.  Are you like me and have gem stones that you have had for years? The best way to use them that I have found is to have them out on my work area and then I tend to grab them and add them to my projects.  If I don’t see them, I may not remember to use them. So be sure to pull yours out too and get them onto your projects!!!! A little extra sparkle can be included on almost any mixed media page! Especially with Rita’s embossing powders and die cut images!!!

If you would like to see how I put this together, please check out my video on my You Tube channel called Tickled Pink Creating.

Please leave some love for Susan below and join us tonight on FB!

Meet Rita

In my work I hope you will find encouragement, a little whimsy, something pretty or at least something to make you think. I do believe we need to be thankful and focus on the positive! I am passionate about art and believe that we are all creative in our own ways.
