How to get permanent looks with watercolor! Have you ever painted something beautifully with watercolor only to drop a little water on it and ruined it? Or you wanted to change the medium you are using but you don’t dare because you started it with watercolor?
I have the solution to your problem!

How to get permanent looks with watercolor
Watercolor has its own beautiful look to it. Sometimes you would like it to be more permanent. It could be because you love it “as is” and have a bunch of kids that might get water on it (or is that just me? LOL!) It could be that you are doing a painting in layers, or this is the background, this layer is perfect and you don’t want it to move. Whatever the reason here are a few ways to get permanent looks with watercolor!
1. Use a fabulous new product called Folk Art Watercolor Acrylic – it looks and feels like watercolor but when it dries, it’s permanent!
Fabulous!
2. Use 3-4 coats of Krylon gloss or matte UV-Resistant Acrylic Coating*
3. Use a varnish- in a spray, three or four coats*
*Always do a test page first before your original masterpiece! For me, the easiest preferred way is the first – my studio is on the second floor and I don’t always want to stop and go outside to spray. (Not to mention I have “littles” in the house and I don’t want them smelling or breathing in fumes.) Jenn used Folk Art watercolor acrylic paints and my “so you say you can’t draw” stencils on this canvas.

What Jen had to say about her project:
Colorful Canvas
For this project, I really wanted to create a fun, bright, glittery canvas. I grabbed Plaid Watercolor acrylic paints in Light Purple, Pink Rose, and Opera. These Watercolor acrylics from Plaid are amazingly smooth and bright; adding a wet paintbrush makes the paint flow great. I wanted to create a “unique” look to my stenciled girl to match the quote I included. Rita’s “So you say you can’t draw” face stencils was just the perfect face for this! I incorporated Rita’s Art Foamies for the background design. Of course, I had to add some glitter! Plaid Extreme Glitter in turquoise was just the right pop for this! Who doesn’t love glitter?
