New ways to do mixed media
A side view reveals the texture and depth Jenn was able to get with this art journal cover.
The contrast between the matte and metallic colors is stunning!

New ways to do mixed media and what Jenn had to say about her project.
I wanted to step outside my normal for this project. The Reflections stamp is one of the new stamps drawn by Rita and manufactured by Technique Junkies. Using black archival ink I pressed the Reflections stamp into a rolled out piece of air-dry modeling compound. Next, I pressed a brick pattern around her face using a fondant press. I added the stamped compound to the cover of the notebook once dry. Use a strong glue to hold it in place.
The outside is painted using a combination of Plaid Folk Art Acrylics in Metallic Plum, Metallic Ice Blue and splattered with Cottage White. The edges are brushed with Plaid Color Shift in Blue Flash and Purple Flash. This gives such a cool effect! The brick pattern was coated with a dark blue ink spray. WIpe the surface leaving dark cracks. Some blue was added to the eyes and pink to the lips. The finishing touch was adding words using stickers and outlining them with white. These were adhered to the cover using Plaid Mod Podge in Hologram for some added sparkle! I hope you have enjoyed this fun project!

Wow! Love it and your color choices were fantastic! 👍👍💖
Love this color combo and the textures!
Wow! I read and re-read how you did the brick and it’s just stunning. I don’t know what a fondant press is, but I am going to look it up. And the way you did the grout in between the bricks – it’s just exceptional and how the Reflections stamp image seems to be a part of the wall – it’s just a work of art! I would have never thought of using modeling clay – and well, now a whole new world has opened up for me in terms of techniques. I love all of Rita’s stamp sets and the Color Shift colors and Glitterific & all the amazing artists that continue to inspire me daily. Thank you so much!!!
Wow, this is ethereal and moody. The textured brick is amazing! This project just glows with an inner light.
