Hello There! Karen here sharing my Fairy Magic Altered Frame using stamps from Rita Barakat Designs!
This stamp set is so precious and versatile. I was able to transform this little $1 frame from Michael’s, into a cute keepsake that’s great for gift giving or my crafty space. I coupled the stamp set with some dyed ribbon, watercolor paper, inks and gesso to really add some mixed media elements. I’m including a super easy tutorial below so you can create your very own Fairy Magic Altered Frame!
Begin this project by applying gesso to the frame using a foam brush. Let dry.
Apply inks to watercolor paper and trim the paper down to the size of the inside of your frame. Note: Use the packaging insert as a guide.
Next, using black ink, stamp the clouds and sentiment from the Fairy Magic stamp set onto the inked watercolor paper.
Using the additional inked watercolor paper, stamp the Fairy from the Fairy Magic stamp set onto the inked watercolor paper and cut out. Note: I stamped multiple Fairies for additional projects.
Next, Using brown ink, apply to the edges of the Fairy and to the edges of the frame.
Lastly, remove the clear plastic or acrylic that typically comes with a frame and insert stamped watercolor paper into the frame. Add dyed ribbon bows and adhere fairy to the frame. Note: I added some Mica to the stamped insert to age the stamping and to give it a more distressed effect.
I loved creating this Fairy Magic Altered Frame. Rita’s fairy stamp set is versatile, fun to use and really gave this project some character. The stamps are super easy to create with and can be found using the link below:
