Hello everyone! Today, I want to share my Sweet Faces Watercolor painting with you. The stamps and stencils designed by Rita Barakat are amazing and you can create so many things!
Starting with Rita’s “So You Think You Can’t Draw” stencils, I sketched the sweet faces, angling them toward each other. Isn’t it adorable how they seem to be a vision of a mother and her daughter?
The stamp is Rita’s Heart Wings Art Foamie.
Watercolor pencils were used to color the faces and hearts.
Once the faces are all stenciled and sketched completely draw some hearts. I used a purple watercolor pencil and freehanded my hearts all around the bottom of my faces. Color in their sweet faces using watercolor pencils. Using watercolor pencils and a waterbrush is the best technique I have found. Next, Using Rita’s Art Foamie Heart Wing Stamp, add wings in teal ink under the small face. Coat with clear embossing powder and set with a heat tool.
Some close ups of there adorable faces!! Shade and accent areas using colored pencils in darker, coordinating shades. The pinks purples and teals created such a bright, cheerful result!
Finish up using a black fine line pen to add eyelashes and accent around the pupils and eyes. This can also be done using black acrylic paint with a fine line paintbrush. Use a white colored pencil in areas of the hair and hearts to highlight. Use a water brush or wet paintbrush to blend lightly. Adding a small amount of pearlescent acrylic can also be done to highlight areas. Using a white gel pen in the eye areas and pupil accent adds a nice effect as well.
*Artist Tip – Because of the fluidity of water coloring, be sure to allow drying time between colors. Doing this will keep colors from mixing and appearing muddy.
