Happy Holidays Everyone! Do you need a last minute gift idea? Rita Barakat’s Magical Theatre book is the perfect gift for girls of all ages that love to create and play! The book is available online in digital and printed format Here. Then, you can create a paper doll Christmas card to go with your gift of this fun, amazing book!!
After purchasing the book, print one doll and assemble her following instructions given in the book. Next, print one page of the dresses and wings and color one dress and the wings. For my card, I used watercolor pencils and a liquid pearlizing medium to add shimmer. Once the colored pieces are dry, cut them out and set aside. Cut out the other three dresses uncolored and set them aside as well.
Cut one 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of patterned cardstock down to 6 1/2″ X 11″. Save the scrap that is cut off.
Score the 6 1/2″ X 11″ at 4″ and 7 3/4″ then fold on score lines and press with bone folder.
Using the scrap piece of patterned cardstock, cut a tab 4″ X 1 1/4″ (for front) and three smaller tabs 3 1/4″ X 3/4″ (for inside)
For the inside panels:
Cut from solid cardstock
6 1/4 “X 3 3/4″(pink for front panel)
6 1/4″ X 3 1/2″(blue middle panel)
5 3/4″ X 3″(pink mat middle panel)
6 1/4” X 3″(Pink right panel)
Adhere colored panels using a tape runner or scortape.
Adhere the tabs to front and inside using scortape only on sides, leaving a pocket as shown below.
Place your uncolored cut out dresses in the tabs created on the inside left panel of the card as shown below. Print a 2″ X 3″ (wallet size) of the book cover on cardstock and adhere it to the inside middle panel as shown below. Then add your sentiment telling the lucky girl about her gift!
Assemble your doll for the front of the card using your colored dress and wings. Slip her in the front pocket tab at the bottom of her wings as shown below.
Add a sentiment (Merry Christmas) and then you’re ready to give this paper doll Christmas card with the Magical Theatre book!! Place in a stocking or in an envelope! Your choice! This book is full of endless amounts of fun, creative backgrounds, dolls, and accessories!
