Hello Everyone, Jenn here. As a member of the Rita Barakat Design Team, this month we are collaborating with two other fantastic teams to showcase some wonderful products.
We are collaborating with Ann Butler’s team and Lisa Marie’s Colorique team this month and we are excited to showcase these products using Rita’s Magical Theatre book. I have created this fun project and titled it “In Her Wardrobe”. This was so much fun making all of the little dresses using the amazing colors from our collaborating companies! Please read on to see how I did this!
Start with creating the wardrobe. Use an old cardboard mailer to create the wardrobe.
Use a woodgrain stencil to make the wardrobe more colorful and lifelike. To achieve the color shown mix ColoriQue Verdigris into texture paste. Mix well. Apply the colored paste through the woodgrain stencil to the wardrobe inside and outside. Set this aside to dry completely before adding anything.
Next, the dresses!! This was fun!
Print the dresses from Rita’s book and cut them all out. Using a watercolor paper or other paper that is able to accommodate wet media is best. Next, using a watermark ink pad and some of Rita’s Foamies stamps add some patterns. Add clear embossing powder and heat set. Once the embossing powder is dry, use ColorIque in Poppy as a watercolor and look at that beautiful resist affect! The other dress in the picture was colored with Ann Butler’s Limelight and Berry ink pads and used as watercolors. All of the dresses were given a coat of pearlizing medium for a sparkly touch!
Finally the doll!
For her, apply Ann Butler’s ink in Berry directly to the spots with a small brush. Next, coat with clear embossing powder and heat set. Paint her shorts in the same way with Ann’s ink in Ocean Breeze.
Using thick bendable wire create a closet rod by pushing through the top of the wardrobe. Some cute little hangar-shaped paperclips are perfect for this to hang all the cute little dresses! Also, adding a mirror to the wardrobe door creates an even better look.
Alas! she has plenty of pretty dresses and proudly stands before her wardrobe with her favorite in hand! Rita’s book is full of dolls and dresses and accessories too! You’ll also find scenes and backgrounds to pose your dolls and play!
This was really fun and I hope it inspires you to get this book and some of these amazing colors and get creative!
