Princess Canvas with Magical Theatre book

November 11, 2017

Magical Theatre, Shilpa Nagaonkar for RitaBarakat.com, Princess Canvas with Magical Theater Book

Hello Everyone!  Shilpa here and hoping you are enjoying your week 🙂

As you know, the Rita Barakat Design Team (DT) is collaborating with the Lisa Marie ColoriQue DT and the Ann Butler ColorBox Ink DT with all their lovely projects to inspire you. We are using amazing products designed by all of these fantastic designers.

Today, I am sharing a mixed media canvas featuring Princes and her Palace from Rita’s Magical Theater book.

Here is the creative process:

Magical Theatre, Shilpa Nagaonkar for RitaBarakat.com, Princess Canvas with Magical Theater Book

The great thing about Rita’s Magical Theater book is it is in a printable format. I printed three pages from this book: Doll Body Parts, Princess Dress, and Palace Scene.

The Doll Body Parts page has perfect instructions. We can see in this picture the right side and left side hand and leg parts are in different groups.

I cut out all of these pieces and started to join them to create the Princess.

I glued all of the parts together to create this glorious Princess.

When I cut out the body parts and dress from the paper, some of the areas at the edges were white. To hide this white, I applied Ann Butler Tangelo Ink with a blending tool at all edges. This way, the image will be highlighted in the background as well.

Here is the print from Magical Theater book, which has the Princess Palace in the background. I glued the page to the canvas while removing excess paper according to the canvas size.

To prepare this canvas for further colors, I applied clear gesso to the whole surface and then it dry completely.

I used water colors to color the palace and the green garden in front of it. I stamped flowers and added water to some ColoriQue Ice Pink Andy painted them with a watercolor look.  The ColoriQue is so wonderful!

Once the background was dry, I adhered the Princess on the canvas.

For the sky,  I used Colorique Turquoise Mountain color. I highlighted all the images using black Pitt pen.

And here is finished canvas…

It is great for home decor or the same process can be done in any journals.

Magical Theater book by Rita is versatile, you can create actual theater scenes or can be used for your tags, cards, canvas, art journals, decorate boxes etc.. the sky is the limit!

List of products used here are:

Rita Barakat – Magical Theater Book

Ann Butler – Color Box Ink – Tangelo

Lisa Marie – Colorique – Ice pink and turquoise Mountain

Hope you would like to try this in your own way!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Meet Rita

In my work I hope you will find encouragement, a little whimsy, something pretty or at least something to make you think. I do believe we need to be thankful and focus on the positive! I am passionate about art and believe that we are all creative in our own ways.
