Love Noted Journal

Karen Jiles http://stampinakapalace.blogspot.com/

Hi there,

Karen here, sharing a journal “Love Noted” created with Rita’s Hot Air Balloon Artfoamie stamps. The Hot Air Balloon is sold in 2 pieces; the hot air balloon and the basket. The hot air balloon measures 5 ¼ x 4 ½ and the basket measures 2 ¼ x 2. I coordinated the stamps with some oxide inks, wooden embellishments, paper straws and dyed ribbon to create the journal. It measures 7 3/4 x 5 ½.

I began this journal cover by inking some watercolor paper with various oxide inks and water. I used oxide colors: abandoned coral, picked raspberry, lucky clover and antique linen.

After inking the watercolor paper, I resprayed the remaining loose ink with water and inked the Hot Air Balloon Artfoamie stamps with the ink. Then I stamped onto some blank watercolor paper. I created several stampings of the hot air balloon and the basket to create several color variations for use in the project. I cut the stampings out and set them aside. I also used the remaining loose ink to coordinate ribbon with the journal.

Next, I trimmed the inked watercolor paper down to layering size and distressed the edges. I then embossed the inked watercolor paper using a crackle stamp, Versamark and white embossing powder. The embossed watercolor paper was adhered to the front of the journal.

Next, I adhered 1 of the hot air balloon stampings to the front of the journal. I then adhered paper straws to the back of another hot air balloon stamping and added it and the basket to the journal.

I applied some picked raspberry ink to the wooden word and adhered it to the journal. I added dyed ribbon and additional wooden embellishments to finish the journal.

Imagine mixed media Journal

Karen Jiles http://stampinakapalace.blogspot.com/

Hi there,

Karen here, sharing a mixed media journal created with Rita’s  Heart Wing Art Foamies stamp. The stamp measures 5 ¾ x 3 ½. The size of the stamp was perfect for this journal. I coordinated this fun stamp with some oxide inks, dyed cheesecloth and dyed ribbon. The journal measures 7 3/4 x 5 ½.

I began this journal by inking some watercolor paper with various oxide inks and water. I used oxide colors: worn lipstick, wilted violet, and fossilized amber. These colors compliment each other well.

After inking the watercolor paper, I resprayed the remaining loose ink with water and inked the Heart Wing stamp with the ink. I heat set the inked watercolor papers and continued adding inks until I was happy with the end result. Then I stamped onto some blank watercolor paper. I created several stampings of the Heart Wing to create several color variations.

I also used the remaining loose ink to coordinate ribbon and cheesecloth to be used on the mixed media journal.

Next, I trimmed the inked watercolor paper down to layering size and tapped some cracked pistachio oxide ink onto the inked watercolor paper. I adhered the inked watercolor paper to a coordinating layer of cardstock. I also cut the Heart Wing stampings out and inked the edges with cracked pistachio oxide ink.

Next, I added dyed honey comb die cuts and cheesecloth to the journal. I then layered 2 Heart Wing stampings together with 3D tape and adhered the Heart Wing layer to the journal.

I applied some wilted violet ink to wooden words and adhered them to the journal. I added dyed ribbon and a crystal charm to finish the journal.
