Fairy Tags

Hi there,

Karen here, sharing some Fairy Tags that I created using stamps from the Fairy Magic Stamp Set and canister lids. Who knew that canister lids could be used in your crafty space to create fun tags?? The 3 ¼ size lids are the perfect size to play with and can be conveniently found in local stores. They provide just the right depth, dimension and base to enhance tags. I coordinated the stamps and lids with some Tim Holtz Oxide inks, charms, and dyed ribbon.

I began these fun tags with inking some watercolor paper with various oxide inks and water. I used oxide colors: broken china, fossilized amber and spiced marmalade. I loved the color combination.

I inked 2 sheets of watercolor paper. I also used the remaining loose ink to coordinate ribbon for the tags. I heat set the inked watercolor papers and continued adding inks until I was happy with the end result.

Using black ink, I stamped fairies onto the inked watercolor paper and then heat set the ink. The fairies were then cut out, edges distressed with coordinating oxide ink and set aside.

Next, I applied gesso to the canister lids and let them dry. I added oxide ink to the edges of the canister lids and dipped the tags in clear embossing powder. Then I heat set the edges- creating this fun bubbled texture on the edges.

Next, I created some circle die cuts using the inked watercolor paper, stamped a fairy and sentiment on to the circle using black ink and distressed the edges with coordinating oxide ink.

I adhered the stamped circle die cut to the inside of the canister lid.

Next, I punched a hole in the canister lids with a Cropadile, added an eyelet to each lid and added a stamped fairy to each tag with 3D tape.

Lastly, I added a ball and chain with coordinating ribbon and charms.
