Love Noted Journal

Karen Jiles http://stampinakapalace.blogspot.com/

Hi there,

Karen here, sharing a journal “Love Noted” created with Rita’s Hot Air Balloon Artfoamie stamps. The Hot Air Balloon is sold in 2 pieces; the hot air balloon and the basket. The hot air balloon measures 5 ¼ x 4 ½ and the basket measures 2 ¼ x 2. I coordinated the stamps with some oxide inks, wooden embellishments, paper straws and dyed ribbon to create the journal. It measures 7 3/4 x 5 ½.

I began this journal cover by inking some watercolor paper with various oxide inks and water. I used oxide colors: abandoned coral, picked raspberry, lucky clover and antique linen.

After inking the watercolor paper, I resprayed the remaining loose ink with water and inked the Hot Air Balloon Artfoamie stamps with the ink. Then I stamped onto some blank watercolor paper. I created several stampings of the hot air balloon and the basket to create several color variations for use in the project. I cut the stampings out and set them aside. I also used the remaining loose ink to coordinate ribbon with the journal.

Next, I trimmed the inked watercolor paper down to layering size and distressed the edges. I then embossed the inked watercolor paper using a crackle stamp, Versamark and white embossing powder. The embossed watercolor paper was adhered to the front of the journal.

Next, I adhered 1 of the hot air balloon stampings to the front of the journal. I then adhered paper straws to the back of another hot air balloon stamping and added it and the basket to the journal.

I applied some picked raspberry ink to the wooden word and adhered it to the journal. I added dyed ribbon and additional wooden embellishments to finish the journal.

I loved creating with the Hot Air Balloon stamps. The images were crisp, versatile and perfect for this journal project. The stamps can be found using the links throughout the tutorial and the link below:
