Where this blogger Creates!

Hey hey there bloggers! One day my little Studio will be finished (but that’s not today!)
First of  all welcome, especially if you are first timers! I am so excited to share my latest revisions in my studio for todays blog hop “Where bloggers Create”!

Where Bloggers Create

This is not my first time doing this blog hop but I do have some major changes in my room. If you love looking into  others work spaces like me, you will love this blog hop – there are hundreds to choose from and you can’t possibly get to them in one day! No worries, links are up all year on Karens blog My Desert Cottage! Of course every time I go visit all those blogs I find a ton of things to change in my space!

Please bookmark my site to come back later, maybe visit my gallery so samples of what I do. I am a mixed media artist and illustrator. You can see some of my work around my space. In this pic(above) the girl sleeping and the girl by the “R” are my original art. My blog/website is full of tutorials for mixed media, scrapbooking, altered items, ETC. So please take a look around! I also recently opened an ETSY shop  I am working on adding more items in there so please check it out!

So on with the tour! When you walk through the double doors of my “Studio” this(above) is the wall to your right. I have altered several Alex drawers from IKEA, stacked them (tutorial on the 18th!) and still need one more to finish this wall. As you can see I have a slanted ceiling so I do have a little dead space (which drives me crazy!) I don’t know what to do with in the corner.  I painted the tall cabinet/shelf as well – hubby found it! It was going in the trash!! I cleaned it up and painted it- good as new! I repainted the wall from orange to gray – yes I know it looks white, I wish I could say it looked gray in real life but no, it came out white. After putting all together though, I am OK with it. Here are some peeks to the drawers…

I like keeping like things together, unless I have a ton, then I do it by manufacture. Specialty paints have their own drawers, Washi tape and twine do too.

Small embellishments have three drawers, the third drawer is metals.

I do not do jewelry often but I use them in my mixed media work – I have a ton from Blue Moon. I am a big fan of Plaid, so they have their own drawer.

Here is the far wall when you walk in. My room is long so it’s hard to great pic but it is quite roomy, lets get a closer look…

A close up of half of this wall. I painted all of my cabinets form the local supply store. I made that blue shelf and am in the process of making another one in place of the hanging art (3 of the 4 are my original work, the one that is green and black is Kellie Rae Roberts (Love her!) I will be making a DIY post about it soon!

I love my Raskog utility cart(Ikea)…It has odds and ends  of mixed  media supplies that I can choose from, wheels make it easily accessible!

Here is the same wall from a different view. I need to keep all liquids in view and also easily accessible.

Here are papers dived by Manufacturer, card stock is separated by color on hanging files in the cabinet. The two girls on the top right are also my original work.

I had to add this smaller Expedit  cubbie from Ikea to house all of my DCWV paper they sent my these past two years!(Thank you DCWV!) Behind this cubbie is my desk and the back wall where you can see my fairies!

Here is the wall next to my desk – I can easily roll back to reach various items on my wall.

Right next to me are my most used items – hello Faber- Castell Design Memory Craft!

In the cubbies are most current DCWV Stacks, Alphas,  Stencils, all kinds of goodies no crafter should be without! Separated by what it it is – like chipboard, cutters, flowers (big and small) fabrics, texture mediums, glues the list goes on and on! So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed my little tour and hope you come visit again soon!

  1. Wow! I love how you have everything arranged. I love everything about your Studio! The layout, the colors, everything! But the thing I love most is your artwork. You’ve given me lots of ideas for my room. Thank you, Rita!

  2. I Love that you too enjoy a Space that has Black AND Bold Color combined! And I agree, every time I come to a Creative Space Blog Hop I find so many Wonderful Ideas to tweak my own Space… and especially become more Organized. Some of the Spaces are so Beautifully Organized, such as yours, and I suffer from Chronic Disorganization so I’m busy taking Notes and Tips from those Spaces that are Orderly! *LOL* Thanks for taking us on the Grand Tour… and your Art is so Cheerful and Whimsical, Love it too!

  3. Hi Rita,

Your studio is awesome! I just love the aqua colored cabinets, and like you, I too love drawers. Everything is so neat and organized, including all your embellishments. Your artwork is gorgeous! I’m off to visit others, but will be back for more inspiration.

  4. I love your work counter, I love the idea of being up high or even standing for awhile. I have seen a couple of those utility carts during my tours and think this item is a great idea. Your space is wonderful, thanks for sharing with us.

  5. Wow Rita! you have a huge space and such great work areas!!! I love those long spaces of places to put stuff!!!
So fun to visit your crafty space, and thank you so much for sharing!!!

  6. Hi Rita!!! Yes, that color is divine and I love the angel girls painted on the cabinets!! I also loved peaking in your drawers!! (so much to be a voyeur!!)) Thank you so much for joining the party!

  7. Love your studio! I’ll be designing a new studio in the next year or so and plan to have a turquoise color scheme as well (I have the Raskog car too). Your studio is fabulous and inspiring. Thank you for sharing! 🙂

  8. Holy crow! What an amazing space… love the turquoise and those counters are to die for! What a wonderful, organized place to create… wow!

  9. Love the blue and black. I especially like the drawers with the decals. Love that idea. I planned to do black but my little closet area I am afraid is too small for black. Maybe someday. I loved visiting. Thanks for sharing your space. Come by and see mine!

  10. Hey Sweetie,

I am enjoying seeing the changes you have made to your space. Everything is so organized. I love that you have your original work out for all to see, you are SO talented and I love seeing your “girls”.

  11. Great space, Rita! I remember you now after seeing your fairy doors. : ) Love those drawer pieces you got. I have to see if I have room for one of those carts. Ikea really has some great things for use in creative spaces! Love the blue color you have throughout. It seems to be a very creative color to get the inspiration flowing. Must check out your Etsy, too!

  12. Your space is absolutely wonderful. I have to laugh to see how many of us have the little aqua 3 tiered cart from IKEA. It is perfect for creative people.

I have lots of other studios to visit, but I will be back for a longer visit.

  13. I am totally in love with your creative space! Love all your space! And the color!!! I must tell you that you girls in your mixed media are beautiful. You are so talented. Mixed media is tons of fun.
Thank you for stopping by Foxhollow Studio!

  14. LOVE it! I’m currently redoing my creative space and am in search of the perfect aqua color of paint. Can you tell me what paint you used for your cabinets…the cabinet your husband found looks like the perfect aqua, LOL. I think one difficulty with tracking down that elusive aqua is that it changes so much, depending upon the light…

Anyway, thanks for the tour! I love how it’s homey and cozy but not cluttered!

  15. Oh wow – so much space! Most of us envy that!! Where oh where did you get the slim drawer units on rollers (drawers painted turquoise & cabinet white? Those are excellent for storing some paints & things like you have – I’m curious! Loved it & thanks for sharing!

  16. I think you’re the organization queen, and I’m so impressed by the practicality of your creative space. (I’ve dreamed of counter tops like yours!) And it’s so beautiful, too, with the turquoise and black and pops of color in your artwork. Thank you for a wonderful tour!

  17. Rita- your studio is absolutely beautiful! I love the turquoise cabinets– they are lovely. You have the most perfect place to create your amazing art– you are so blessed. I could spent the day– and half the night (!!) just being content in here.

Ps– I love your profile picture– you are so pretty:)

  18. WOW!!! I love your space… It is so organized. Some people have that gift.. I don’t. I love the blue color you have through out your studio.. I would love to be turned loose in your space.. Thanks for sharing..

  23. Hi, visiting from the create party. Love the aqua! You have lots of fabulous stuff and have it organized so nicely. Beautiful and creative art work! I love those rolling carts from IKEA also. Really don’t have a place for one, but I’m still looking to see if I can possibly use one. lol!

  24. Your studio is fabulous, Rita. It must be such a pleasure to work there. Everything is so well organized. I love the way it’s sophisticated and whimsical all at the same time. Beautiful colors, love what you did with the Ikea pieces. It’s all wonderful. Visiting from Karen’s party, and now following you on Google Connect. Love your artwork, too. xxx ~ Nancy
